Labplas TWIRL'EM® Clean Room Certified Sterile Sampling Bags
Labplas TWIRL'EM Clear Clean Room bags are certified sterile sampling bags, sterile inside and out, for taking into highly controlled environments. Each bag is double-pouched with a gamma irradiation indicator on the outer pouch. Like all TWIRL'EM bags, they have a built-in wire closure that seals waterproof and airtight with a simple twirl and fold, and a tear-off perforated top.
This page covers two sizes, 5.5 × 15 in and 7 × 12 in, both with the standard 2-round-wire closure. Clean Room codes carry an "S" suffix (EPL-5515S, EPL-7012S). TWIRL'EM bags are available in Canada from Cambridge Environmental Products with CAD pricing and Canadian purchasing support.
Ideal For
- Pharmaceutical and cosmetics production in controlled environments
- Clean room sampling programs in research laboratories
- Food and beverage QA/QC in high-care or controlled areas
- Any procedure that requires certified sterile sampling bags
Why Choose TWIRL'EM Clean Room Bags?
Sterile inside and out
Labplas describes its Clean Room line as certified sterile both inside and out. Each bag is packed in a double pouch: you remove the outer pouch before entering the controlled area and the inner pouch once inside, so the outside of the bag stays clean as it goes in. A gamma irradiation indicator on the outer pouch lets you check the bags have been irradiated before use.
Made to go into controlled environments
The double pouch means neither the bag nor its inner wrapping has to cross into your controlled area dirty. You take off the outer pouch at the entry point and the inner pouch inside. For clean room classifications or documentation for your procedures, contact Cambridge and we'll get the details from Labplas.
Secure wire closure, no tools needed
Twirl the bag by the wire ends to wind the top closed, then fold the wires over to lock it. The sample is sealed waterproof and airtight for transport, without caps, clips or heat sealers. A tear-off perforated top keeps the opening clean until you sample.
Food-contact compliant film
The polyethylene-blend film meets FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 and EU Regulation No 10/2011 for food contact, according to Labplas. That matters when bags hold food samples or product destined for testing.
Long shelf life
Labplas lists a 5-year shelf life when stored dry at room temperature, so cases of 1,000 can be kept on hand without waste.
Available Sizes
Both Clean Room bags use the standard closure (2 round wires). Choose the size in the selector. For general lab use, see TWIRL'EM Clear.
| Code | Size (in) | Size (mm) | Thickness | Case |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EPL-5515S | 5.5 × 15 | 140 × 381 | 3 mil | 1,000 (4 × 250) |
| EPL-7012S | 7 × 12 | 178 × 305 | 3 mil | 1,000 (4 × 250) |
Which Size Should I Choose?
- 5.5 × 15 in (EPL-5515S): long, narrow bag with plenty of headspace for twirling; suits longer items and liquid samples
- 7 × 12 in (EPL-7012S): wider bag for larger or bulkier samples
Common Applications
| Application | How These Bags Help |

| Controlled-environment sampling | Double pouch lets the bag enter a controlled area without bringing contamination in on its outside. |
| Pharmaceutical QA | Certified sterile bags for raw material and environmental samples. |
| High-care food production | Food-contact compliant film with a waterproof, airtight closure. |

Selection & Handling Notes
- Don't overfill. Leave enough room at the top to twirl and fold the closure. Labplas lists a usable volume below the total volume. For example, the 5.5 × 9 in bag holds 930 mL in total but has a usable volume of 550 mL.
- Clean room requirements: confirm the Clean Room specifications against your own procedures before use. Contact Cambridge for Labplas documentation.
- Temperature limits: Labplas doesn't publish freezing or heating limits on the data sheet we reviewed. Check with Cambridge before freezing, heating or autoclaving.
- Single use: use each bag once. Don't reuse them.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the "S" in EPL-5515S and EPL-7012S mean?
It marks Labplas's Clean Room version of the clear TWIRL'EM bag: certified sterile and double-pouched.
How is this different from the standard Clear bag?
Clean Room bags are certified sterile inside and out, double-pouched, and carry a gamma irradiation indicator. Standard Clear bags are produced by dry heat during extrusion but are not irradiated or certified. For general use, see TWIRL'EM Clear.
Are Clean Room bags certified sterile?
Yes. Labplas describes the Clean Room line as certified sterile both inside and out, with a gamma irradiation indicator on the outer pouch.
How do I use the double pouch?
Remove the outer pouch before entering the controlled area, then remove the inner pouch once inside.
How do you close a TWIRL'EM bag?
Hold the wire ends, twirl the bag to wind the top closed, then fold the wire ends over to lock it. This gives a waterproof, airtight seal.
Are they suitable for food samples?
Yes. Labplas states the film meets FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 and EU Regulation No 10/2011 for food contact.
How many bags are in a case?
Every code on this page comes in cases of 1,000.
Are TWIRL'EM bags available in Canada?
Yes. Labplas is a Canadian manufacturer, and Cambridge Environmental Products supplies TWIRL'EM bags across Canada with CAD pricing.
