Hygiena SuperSnap® High Sensitivity Surface ATP Test – 100 Tests

Hygiena SuperSnap is Hygiena's most sensitive surface ATP test. It's a single-use swab with a built-in liquid-stable reagent that detects very low levels of ATP, the energy molecule found in food residue, microorganisms and other organic matter. Swab the surface, snap and squeeze to activate, then read the result in a Hygiena luminometer in about 10 to 15 seconds. You can confirm a surface is clean before production starts, instead of waiting for lab results.

SuperSnap is designed for sites with the strictest hygiene standards, such as high-risk food and beverage production, where a standard ATP swab may not pick up low-level residue. It's sold in boxes of 100 tests and works with all Hygiena luminometers, including the EnSURE Touch, EnSURE and SystemSURE Plus. Hygiena SuperSnap is available in Canada from Cambridge Environmental Products with CAD pricing and Canadian purchasing support.

Ideal For

  • Food and beverage processing: verifying cleaning of food-contact surfaces before start-up
  • High-risk and ready-to-eat production areas that need very low pass thresholds
  • Sanitation SOP verification and pre-operational inspections
  • HACCP and preventive control programs that use ATP as a cleaning verification tool
  • Sites already using Hygiena luminometers

Why Choose SuperSnap?

Hygiena's most sensitive surface ATP test

Hygiena states SuperSnap is 4 times more sensitive than its UltraSnap surface test. Higher sensitivity means the test can pick up smaller amounts of residue, so you can set tighter pass limits on critical surfaces.

Resistant to sanitizer effects

Leftover sanitizer can suppress the ATP reaction and give falsely low readings. Hygiena states the SuperSnap reagent is 5 times more resistant to acid-based sanitizers and 10 times more resistant to alkali-based sanitizers.

Results in seconds

Results take about 10 seconds on the EnSURE Touch and 15 seconds on the EnSURE or SystemSURE Plus. Staff can re-clean and re-test a surface on the spot instead of waiting for lab results.

All-in-one device

The swab, reagent and cuvette are in one self-contained device, so there's no pipetting or separate reagent to handle. Hygiena's patented swab design is built for high sample collection and recovery, and the plastic is 100% recyclable.

How to Use

  1. Let the device warm to room temperature (21–25 °C) before use.
  2. Twist and pull the swab out of the tube.
  3. Swab a 10 × 10 cm area in a crisscross pattern, rotating the swab and pressing firmly enough to flex the shaft.
  4. Return the swab to the tube.
  5. Bend the bulb back and forth to break the Snap-Valve, then squeeze the bulb twice to release the liquid.
  6. Shake for 5 to 10 seconds to soak the swab tip.
  7. Insert the device into the luminometer and start the reading within 30 seconds of activating it.

Steps are from the Hygiena SuperSnap instructions for use. Set pass, caution and fail limits (RLU) for each test point in your luminometer software, based on your own sanitation program.

Common Applications

Application How SuperSnap Helps
Pre-operational inspection Confirms food-contact surfaces are clean before production starts.
High-risk and RTE areas Higher sensitivity supports tighter pass limits on critical surfaces.
Sanitation verification Reagent resists acid and alkali sanitizer residues that can suppress results.
Trend monitoring Results can be logged and trended with Hygiena luminometer software.

Selection & Handling Notes

  • Refrigerate on receipt. Store at 2–8 °C. Devices can be kept at room temperature for up to 4 weeks before use.
  • Read within 30 seconds of activating the device, or results may not be accurate.
  • Don't swab visibly dirty surfaces. Heavy soil overloads the swab and inhibits the reaction. Clean first, then verify.
  • Don't touch the swab tip or the inside of the device. ATP from skin will raise the reading.
  • Requires a luminometer. SuperSnap must be read in a Hygiena luminometer.
  • Single use only. See the Safety Data Sheet for handling and disposal.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does SuperSnap measure?

It measures ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is found in food residue, microorganisms and other organic matter. The luminometer reports the result in relative light units (RLU). A higher reading means more residue on the surface.

How is SuperSnap different from UltraSnap?

SuperSnap is Hygiena's high sensitivity surface test. Hygiena states it's 4 times more sensitive than UltraSnap and more resistant to sanitizer effects. It suits sites that need tighter pass limits.

Which luminometers does it work with?

All Hygiena luminometers, including the EnSURE Touch, EnSURE and SystemSURE Plus. It isn't designed for other brands' luminometers.

How should I store it?

Refrigerate at 2–8 °C. Devices can be kept at room temperature (20–25 °C) for up to 4 weeks before use. Let them reach room temperature before testing.

Does SuperSnap detect bacteria?

It detects ATP from all organic sources, including bacteria, but it isn't a bacteria count. Use it to verify cleaning, and use microbiological testing to confirm specific organisms.

How many tests are in a box?

100 single-use tests.

Is SuperSnap available in Canada?

Yes. Cambridge Environmental Products supplies Hygiena SuperSnap across Canada with CAD pricing.
