Benchmark Scientific Incu-Shaker 10LR Refrigerated Shaking Incubator

The Benchmark Scientific Incu-Shaker 10LR (H2012) is a heavy-duty refrigerated shaking incubator for continuous-duty cell culture, microbiology, and molecular biology work. It combines orbital shaking (30–300 rpm) with precise temperature control from 12°C below ambient up to 60°C, so temperature-sensitive cultures stay on protocol without moving them to a separate refrigerator or incubator. The large 18 × 18 in. platform holds up to five 2 L flasks, and the patented MAGic Clamp system lets you swap flask clamps in seconds without tools.

Ideal For
  • Cell culture and tissue culture labs running bacterial, yeast, or mammalian cultures
  • Microbiology labs needing below-ambient incubation (e.g., 15–25°C protocols)
  • Food, beverage, and brewery QA/QC labs doing enrichment and incubation
  • University and college teaching and research labs
  • Any lab currently splitting shaking and cooled incubation across two instruments

Why Choose the Incu-Shaker 10LR?

Refrigeration built in, not bolted on. The integrated compressor cools to 12°C below ambient temperature, so low-temperature protocols (15°C, 20°C, 25°C) run accurately even in a warm lab — no cold room required.

Uniformity you can trust in the corners. Proprietary heat-distribution technology holds the set temperature within 0.25% throughout the chamber, eliminating the stratification and cold spots that ruin replicate consistency.

Built for continuous use. A brushless induction drive and computer-designed motor isolation system keep vibration and noise low under heavy loads, day after day. It's designed to run 24/7 with minimal maintenance.

Change vessels in seconds. The patented MAGic Clamp magnetic attachment system lets you instantly swap between flask clamps of different sizes — no screws, bolts, or tools. A standard non-slip rubber mat platform is included for tissue culture flasks, Petri dishes, and staining trays.

Step programming. An advanced mode lets you program timed changes to temperature, speed, and run time — useful for multi-stage culture protocols.

Available Models / Variants

The Incu-Shaker 10LR is a single model with two voltage configurations:

Model SKU Voltage Notes
Incu-Shaker 10LR H2012 115V, 50–60 Hz Canadian configuration — confirm with Cambridge before ordering
Incu-Shaker 10LR H2012-E 230V, 50–60 Hz For 230V markets; not the standard Canadian unit

Common Applications

Application How This Product Helps
Bacterial and yeast culture Orbital shaking aerates liquid cultures while precise temperature control keeps growth conditions constant
Below-ambient incubation Refrigeration holds 12°C below room temperature for protocols that run at 15–25°C without a cold room
Cell culture scale-up The 18 × 18 in. platform holds up to five 2 L flasks for higher-throughput culture work
Food, beverage, and brewery QA/QC Consistent shaking incubation for enrichment cultures and microbial testing

Compatible Accessories

  • Included: non-slip rubber mat platform — ideal for tissue culture flasks, Petri dishes, staining trays, and other flat vessels
  • Optional: MAGic Clamp platforms for Erlenmeyer flasks and test tube racks — patented magnetic attachment for tool-free clamp changes
  • Optional: shelf for Petri dishes, microplates, and small vessels

Ask Cambridge for current part numbers and pricing on MAGic Clamp platforms and the optional shelf.

Compatibility / Selection Notes

  • 10L vs 10LR: the non-refrigerated Incu-Shaker 10L covers ambient +5°C to 60°C at a lower price. Choose the 10LR only if you need below-ambient temperatures.
  • Voltage: Canadian labs run 115V/60Hz — the H2012 is the 115V SKU. Confirm with Cambridge which voltage configuration is stocked before ordering.
  • Bench space: at 20 × 31 in. footprint plus 38 in. lid-open height, verify clearance under shelving. The 170 lb weight typically needs two people to position.
  • Not the right fit if you only need heating (no cooling): the standard 10L or the compact Incu-Shaker Mini will cost less.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Incu-Shaker 10LR used for?

It is a refrigerated shaking incubator for growing liquid cultures — bacterial, yeast, or cell cultures — with simultaneous orbital shaking and precise temperature control. Common uses include microbiology, molecular biology, and food/beverage QA/QC enrichment cultures.

What is the difference between the Incu-Shaker 10L and 10LR?

The 10LR is the refrigerated version: it cools to 12°C below ambient (down to roughly 8–13°C in a normal lab) and heats to 60°C. The standard 10L heats only, from 5°C above ambient to 60°C. Choose the 10LR if any of your protocols run below room temperature.

How cold can the 10LR actually get?

It holds 12°C below the ambient room temperature, up to a maximum of 60°C. In a typical 20–25°C lab, expect a usable range of about 8°C to 60°C.

Which voltage will I receive in Canada?

Canadian labs use 115V/60Hz, which corresponds to Benchmark SKU H2012. Confirm the 115V configuration with Cambridge when you order.

What accessories do I need for Erlenmeyer flasks?

The included rubber mat platform suits flat vessels (tissue culture flasks, Petri dishes, trays). For Erlenmeyer flasks or tube racks, add the optional MAGic Clamp platform — its patented magnetic base lets you swap clamp sizes in seconds without tools. Ask Cambridge for the correct clamp sizes for your flasks.

Need Help Choosing the Right Shaking Incubator?

Tell us your application (cell culture, microbiology, QA/QC), your temperature range, and your flask sizes — we'll confirm whether the 10LR or the standard 10L fits, and quote the right MAGic Clamp accessories.
