Bürkle LDPE Packaging & Sample Bags with Push-Lock Closure

Bürkle Packaging Bags with Closure are clear, resealable LDPE bags designed for the storage, collection, protection and transport of specimens, samples and packaged products.

Manufactured from crystal-clear low-density polyethylene (LDPE), the bags use a simple push-lock / zipper-style closure that can be opened and resealed during routine handling. The transparent film allows contents to be visually inspected without opening the bag.

Bürkle specifies a uniform 0.05 mm / 0.002 in. film thickness across the entire 2348 series. The film is waterproof, has good tear resistance and helps keep contents protected from dust during storage and handling.

Available in ten sizes from approximately 80 mL to 6500 mL, every size is supplied in a pack of 100 bags.

What Are Bürkle Packaging Bags Used For?

Bürkle designed the 2348 series for the storage, collection, protection and shipping of specimens, samples and packaged products.

Typical uses can include:

  • Laboratory sample storage
  • QA/QC retained samples
  • Dry ingredient samples
  • Powders and granules
  • Industrial material samples
  • Food ingredient samples
  • Small component packaging
  • Research samples
  • Sample organization and protection

Crystal-Clear LDPE Film

The Bürkle 2348 series is manufactured from crystal-clear low-density polyethylene (LDPE).

Transparent construction allows operators to visually identify the contents, approximate quantity and general condition of a sample without opening the bag.

This is useful in laboratories and production environments where several samples or retained products are stored together and rapid visual identification is important.

0.05 mm / 2 mil Film Thickness

Every size in the Bürkle packaging-bag family uses approximately 0.05 mm / 0.002 in. film.

Bürkle describes the film as having good tear resistance, making it appropriate for routine handling, storage and movement of suitable specimens and materials.

The consistent film thickness means customers can select the bag based primarily on required dimensions and sample volume rather than having different material thicknesses between capacities.

Resealable Push-Lock / Zipper Closure

The bag uses a push-lock closure, commonly described as a zipper-style resealable closure.

This allows the bag to be opened and resealed during normal use without requiring heat sealing or separate clips.

Push-lock bags are especially convenient for applications where samples, components or materials need to be accessed more than once during storage or testing.

Waterproof Film & Dust Protection

Bürkle describes the LDPE film as waterproof and states that contents remain protected from dust when the bag is closed.

This provides useful protection during routine laboratory storage, sample organization and transportation.

Waterproof Film Does Not Mean a Certified Leakproof Sample Bag

Bürkle describes the film itself as waterproof, but the standard 2348 packaging bag should not automatically be treated as a sterile, validated liquid-tight or leakproof sampling container. For microbiological sampling, liquid samples or applications requiring a sterile or specialized leak-resistant closure, use a purpose-designed sampling bag.

Food-Contact Packaging & Sample Bags

Bürkle publishes food-contact compliance documentation covering the 2348 packaging-bag series.

This makes the bags relevant for suitable food and beverage applications such as:

  • Dry ingredient samples
  • Powdered ingredients
  • Granulated ingredients
  • Retained QA/QC samples
  • Supplier samples
  • Product-development samples
  • Small packaged food-contact materials

Facilities should still verify that the bag, sample type and intended use meet their specific food-safety, sanitation, allergen-control and quality requirements.

Food & Beverage QA/QC Applications

The combination of clear construction, resealable closure and multiple sizes makes these bags practical for routine food-production quality-control work.

Potential applications include:

  • Ingredient retain samples
  • Dry production samples
  • Powder and seasoning samples
  • Granulated materials
  • Supplier sample retention
  • Packaging small test portions
  • Sample transport within a facility

If the sample will be submitted for microbiological analysis where sterility is required, select a sterile sampling bag instead.

Laboratory & Research Applications

Bürkle packaging bags can be useful for general laboratory organization and sample handling when a sterile container is not required.

Typical applications may include:

  • Dry specimen storage
  • Powders and granules
  • Small components
  • Research materials
  • Retained samples
  • Protective secondary packaging
  • General laboratory organization

Industrial QA/QC Applications

Industrial laboratories and manufacturing QA/QC departments can use the bags for suitable materials such as:

  • Raw-material samples
  • Production retains
  • Powders
  • Granules
  • Small molded components
  • Hardware samples
  • Supplier comparison samples
  • R&D materials

Environmental & Field Sampling Support

The lightweight bags can also be used for suitable non-sterile field and environmental sample-handling applications.

Their flat format takes up little space in a sampling kit and allows unused bags to be carried efficiently.

For analytical work, always confirm that LDPE and the non-sterile push-lock format are appropriate for the material and analytes being collected.

No Printed Labelling Field

Bürkle specifies the standard 2348 packaging bags as without a dedicated labelling field.

Identification can instead be applied using a suitable external label or marker system compatible with the LDPE surface.

If a permanently printed write-on panel, sample number or chain-of-custody feature is required, choose a purpose-designed sample bag with those features.

Compatible Sampling-Bag Clamp

Bürkle offers a 25 mm sampling-bag clamp that can hold compatible bags open during sampling.

The clamp can be used with sampling equipment such as Bürkle StickProof or PowderProof devices, allowing liquids or powders to be transferred into a bag without the operator needing to hold the bag directly.

This can improve convenience and help reduce unnecessary contact with the bag opening during suitable sampling procedures.
