Adam Equipment Gladiator GGS 15aM Trade-Approved IP68 Washdown Scale – 6 kg × 1 g

The Adam Equipment Gladiator GGS 15aM is a stainless steel bench scale built for wet, washdown environments where weight also has to be legally accurate. It weighs up to 6 kg (15 lb) with 1 g (0.002 lb) readability on a 250 × 250 mm stainless steel pan. The scale is IP68-rated, so it can be cleaned thoroughly between batches. Adam Equipment lists the Gladiator M range with Measurement Canada, NTEP and NSF approvals.

It suits operations that sell by weight and need a scale that survives daily cleaning: meat, cheese, bakery and produce processors, food and beverage QA/QC, and pharmaceutical and industrial production areas. The colour-changing backlit display makes checkweighing fast. The internal rechargeable battery lets you use the scale away from a power outlet. The GGS 15aM is available in Canada from Cambridge Environmental Products with CAD pricing and Canadian purchasing support.

Ideal For

  • Selling by weight in food processing, butcher, deli, bakery and farm-gate operations
  • Washdown areas in food and beverage production, where scales are hosed or wiped down daily
  • Food and beverage QA/QC portion control and pack-weight checkweighing
  • Pharmaceutical and industrial production lines that need a sealed, cleanable scale
  • Wet or dusty locations where a standard bench scale would fail

Why Choose the Gladiator GGS 15aM?

Trade approval for selling by weight

Adam Equipment lists the Gladiator M range as approved by Measurement Canada (Canada) and NTEP (USA). A trade-approved scale is designed to the requirements for use when weight determines the price of goods bought or sold. See the FAQ for what Canadian trade use involves.

IP68 protection, including the connectors

IP68 means the scale is dust-tight and protected against water. The indicator is sealed, and the connectors on the underside are also IP68-rated. You can clean the scale properly in food and pharmaceutical areas without the water damage that ends the life of many bench scales.

304 stainless steel construction

The pan, base and housing are stainless steel, and the pan is grade 304. They resist corrosion from frequent cleaning and have no painted surfaces to chip into product.

Colour-changing display for fast checkweighing

Set high and low limits, and the backlit display changes colour to show under, within or over target. Operators can pass or reject a pack at a glance instead of reading digits, which speeds up portioning and pack checks. The 40 mm digits are easy to read from a distance.

Battery operation

An internal rechargeable lead-acid battery runs the scale for up to 90 hours between charges. You can move it between stations, or use it where plugging in near water is impractical. A 12 VDC adapter is also included for mains power.

Sealed, colour-coded keypad

The tactile keypad is sealed against dirt and spills. Large colour-coded keys let staff find the right function quickly, even with gloves on.

More than basic weighing

The scale also does parts counting, percentage weighing, check counting, display hold and dynamic/animal weighing. Dynamic weighing uses filtering to stabilise readings for moving loads such as live shellfish or small animals.

5-year warranty

Adam Equipment backs the GGS 15aM with a 5-year warranty.

Compatibility & Selection Notes

  • RS-232 cable: Adam lists the RS-232 cables as factory-fitted options. If you need to connect to a PC or printer, tell Cambridge when ordering so the scale ships with the right cable.
  • Capacity: 6 kg is the maximum load including any container. If you weigh into trays or tubs, subtract their weight from the 6 kg. For heavier products, see the higher-capacity Gladiator M models above.
  • Not a laboratory balance: 1 g readability suits portioning and pack checks. For gram-fraction work such as sample preparation or formulation, a precision balance is the better tool.
  • Height: the indicator is mounted on a column, so the scale stands 568 mm tall. Check the clearance under shelves or hoods.
  • Trade use: owning an approved scale is only part of compliance. See the FAQ below.

Use & Care Notes

  • Let the scale acclimatise to room temperature before use. Adam notes some scales may need up to 24 hours.
  • Place it on a flat, stable surface away from drafts and vibration for the most consistent readings.
  • Charge the internal battery fully before first use.
  • Avoid shock-loading the pan. Place items gently, especially near full capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Adam GGS 15aM legal for trade in Canada?

Adam Equipment lists the Gladiator M range, including the GGS 15aM, with Measurement Canada approval. To use any scale in trade in Canada, the device must be an approved model and must also be inspected before use. This inspection is done by Measurement Canada or an authorised service provider. Requirements can vary by sector, so contact Cambridge for the approval details and help arranging inspection.

What does IP68 mean for a washdown scale?

IP68 means the scale is fully protected against dust and against water ingress beyond splashes and jets. On the GGS 15aM, both the sealed indicator and the underside connectors are IP68-rated, so it can be cleaned thoroughly in food and pharmaceutical environments.

What is the capacity and readability?

6 kg (15 lb) capacity with 1 g (0.002 lb) readability, on a 250 × 250 mm stainless steel pan.

Can it run on battery?

Yes. The internal rechargeable lead-acid battery provides up to 90 hours of operation, and a 12 VDC adapter is included for mains power.

Can it connect to a computer or printer?

Yes, through RS-232. The RS-232 cable is a factory-fitted option, so request it when ordering. A USB adapter is available for PCs without a serial port. The scale is also compatible with Adam Connect for Bluetooth data transfer.

Is it suitable for food processing?

Yes. It has stainless steel construction with a grade 304 pan, IP68 washdown protection and a sealed keypad. Adam Equipment also lists NSF for this range.

How does checkweighing work?

You set upper and lower limits. The backlight then changes colour to show whether each item is under, within or over the target range, so operators don't need to read the numbers.

What if I need more than 6 kg?

The Gladiator M range goes up to 300 kg with larger platforms (see the table above). Cambridge can quote any model in the range.

Is the GGS 15aM available in Canada?

Yes. Cambridge Environmental Products supplies the GGS 15aM in Canada with CAD pricing, Canadian shipping and purchasing support.
