Adam Equipment Polaris® PAB 125i Semi-Micro Analytical Balance – 80 g × 0.01 mg / 120 g × 0.1 mg
The Adam Equipment Polaris PAB 125i is a dual-range semi-micro analytical balance with internal calibration. It weighs up to 80 g with 0.00001 g (0.01 mg) readability, and up to 120 g with 0.0001 g (0.1 mg) readability. You get semi-micro resolution for very small samples and standard analytical resolution for heavier containers, on the same balance.
It is designed for laboratories where small sample masses drive results: pharmaceutical and chemical QA/QC, research laboratories, universities and colleges, and environmental and wastewater labs doing gravimetric analysis. A large colour display, a lit weighing chamber, and Ethernet, Bluetooth®, RS-232 and USB connections help with recordkeeping and data transfer. The PAB 125i is available in Canada from Cambridge Environmental Products with CAD pricing and Canadian purchasing support.
Ideal For
- Pharmaceutical and chemical QA/QC: weighing small quantities of standards, reference materials and active ingredients
- Research laboratories, universities and colleges that need 0.01 mg readability for sample preparation
- Environmental and wastewater labs doing gravimetric work, such as filter weighing
- Formulation work that needs a stored recipe of up to 20 ingredients per formulation
Why Choose the Polaris PAB 125i?
Two ranges on one balance
Up to 80 g, the balance reads to 0.01 mg for semi-micro work such as weighing reference standards or very small samples. Between 80 g and 120 g it reads to 0.1 mg, so you can still tare heavier vessels or weigh larger samples at standard analytical resolution. One balance covers jobs that would otherwise need two.
Internal automatic calibration
The built-in calibration mass lets the balance adjust itself without you handling external weights. This helps keep results consistent as room conditions change, which matters at 0.01 mg readability. External calibration is also available for verification with your own certified weights.
Air diversion technology (ADT)
On the PAB 125i, an air diversion channel below the pan carries warm air away from the weighing chamber. Warm air rising inside a draft shield is a common cause of drifting readings at semi-micro resolution, so this helps readings settle and stay stable.
Lit chamber and colour display
An LED-lit weighing chamber makes small samples and powders easier to see. The 7.4" multi-colour backlit display shows guidance and results clearly. In checkweighing mode the backlight changes colour to show whether a sample is under, within or over your limits.
Connectivity for records and LIMS
RJ45 Ethernet, Bluetooth, RS-232 and two USB ports let you send results to a PC, printer or LIMS instead of writing them down. This reduces transcription errors and supports GLP and GMP recordkeeping.
User management and formulation memory
Multi-level security supports one administrator and up to 99 operators, so you can control who changes settings. The internal memory stores up to 200 ingredients (10 formulations of 20 ingredients) for repeatable recipe work.
5-year warranty
Adam Equipment backs the PAB 125i with a 5-year warranty.

Selection & Installation Notes
- Do you need 0.01 mg? If your smallest samples are above the USP minimum weight for a 0.1 mg balance, a standard analytical balance may be enough and costs less. The PAB 125i is worth it when you routinely weigh small masses where 0.1 mg would be a large share of the sample.
- Location matters at this resolution: place the balance on a stable weighing table away from drafts, vents, doors, direct sunlight and vibration. Operate it within 15–35 °C, and allow it to acclimatise before use.
- Capacity: the 0.01 mg range ends at 80 g, including the container. Use light weighing boats or small vessels to stay in the fine range.
- Not for trade use: Adam does not list a Measurement Canada trade approval for this model. For selling by weight, choose an approved balance.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a semi-micro balance?
A semi-micro balance reads to 0.01 mg (0.00001 g), ten times finer than a standard analytical balance at 0.1 mg. The PAB 125i reads to 0.01 mg up to 80 g, and to 0.1 mg from 80 g to 120 g.
How does the dual range work?
Loads up to 80 g are displayed in 0.01 mg steps. Above 80 g, up to the 120 g maximum, the balance displays in 0.1 mg steps.
Does it have internal calibration?
Yes. The "i" model has internal automatic calibration, and external calibration with certified weights is also available.
What is the USP minimum weight?
Adam lists a USP minimum weight of 0.03950 g (k=2, U=0.10%) and an optimised USP minimum weight of 0.00820 g. Your actual minimum weight depends on your environment and should be confirmed during installation and qualification.
Can it connect to a computer or LIMS?
Yes. It has RJ45 Ethernet, Bluetooth, RS-232 and two USB ports for sending results to PCs, printers and LIMS.
Is it suitable for pharmaceutical labs?
Yes. Adam describes the Polaris as supporting GLP and GMP practices, with user permissions, data output and published USP minimum-weight figures.
Is it suitable for wastewater testing?
It is well suited to gravimetric work such as filter weighing, where 0.1 mg or finer readability is typically used. Check your method's balance requirements.
Is the PAB 125i available in Canada?
Yes. Cambridge Environmental Products supplies the PAB 125i in Canada with CAD pricing, Canadian shipping and purchasing support.
