CHEMetrics K-1510 Ammonia CHEMets® Test Kit
The CHEMetrics K-1510 Ammonia CHEMets® Kit is a visual colorimetric water test kit for measuring ammonia in water samples. It provides two measurement ranges, 0-1 ppm and 1-10 ppm, making it useful for routine ammonia checks in drinking water, surface water, nitrified wastewater, and seawater applications.
This kit uses the Direct Nesslerization method with CHEMets® ampoules and provides results in approximately 1 minute. It is a practical choice for Canadian wastewater labs, environmental testing teams, industrial water users, food and beverage facilities, field technicians, and general water quality testing applications where fast visual results are useful.
Where this ammonia test kit fits
This kit is best suited for users who need a simple, portable, visual ammonia test without relying on a dedicated photometer or spectrophotometer. It is useful for screening, process checks, field testing, and routine water quality monitoring.

Refill option
The refill for this kit is CHEMetrics R-1501. The refill includes 30 tests and is intended for users who already have the required comparators and kit components.
Important shelf-life and storage note
The Nessler reagent is stable, but its high alkali content can attack the glass ampoule over time. This can create precipitate that interferes with visual colour comparison. CHEMetrics notes that the refill has a 5-month shelf life when stored in the dark at room temperature. Shelf life can be extended by refrigeration.
Mercury disposal note
This product contains mercury. Used ampoules and waste should be handled and disposed of according to applicable local, provincial, and federal requirements. For regulated facilities, confirm your internal disposal procedure before use.
Buying guidance
This kit is a good fit if your lab needs a fast visual ammonia test for routine water quality work. If you need digital results, tighter documentation, operator-independent readings, or automated recordkeeping, an instrumental method or photometer-based option may be more appropriate.
If you are unsure whether this kit is suitable for your sample type, reporting requirement, or workflow, Cambridge Environmental can help review the application before you order.
